One of the major issues for women in leadership today is being a single mother. I am well aware of the obstacles that come with this issue, as I was a single mother for 10 years during my son’s teens and early twenties. He and I walked the path of allowing the Lord to be father to the fatherless and defender to the widow. It was not an easy road to travel, but I received more direct revelation from the Lord in those years than I had in the combined years before. The Lord is faithful and good and kind and will never leave us alone.

When you encounter various obstacles in your life (and you will) it is valuable to know deep within yourself that you are not alone. Obstacles can be used to strengthen you for the race, or to knock you out of the race. But you get to decide which. The Lord is with you through every phase of growth and He is the one who gives you the stamina to get up, keep going and finish the race with grace. Being a single mother in business often doubles your workload, but it also doubles your joy in every victory. Keep looking past the obstacles toward the victory that is promised on the other side (and there will be victory).
