Have you found yourself going through the motions of your daily life on autopilot? Are you stepping into the daily grind without considering whether you are where you are supposed to be? Do you enjoy what you are doing or are you just collecting a paycheck and trudging home? The answers to these questions determine if you are living your life with or without purpose. You were created by God with a unique purpose, and living your purpose will make all the difference in the world.

Besides finding your own purpose, finding a new purpose in some of the ‘regular’ things throughout your day can be helpful. For example: finding purpose in cleaning the house beyond the ‘regular duty’ is helpful. Finding order in chaos can be a new purpose (depending on how much cleaning is needed). Serving your family, blessing your guests or checking things off your to-do list can all be considered a new purpose for a daily grind duty. It can bring joy back into your daily grind life.

When you hit challenges that make you doubt whether you are fulfilling your purpose in an area, ask the Lord and yourself some questions. How can I complete this task or project in a way that brings more joy? What can I do differently to better utilize my gifts and talents? Is this still the best place to see my purpose fulfilled? Am I open to making changes based on the answers to these questions?

We just launched a new vacation rental, the Coastal Cottage, which went live last week. With all the last minute details, it could have been one of these daily grind moments for sure. But knowing the CC will be a place where people come to rest, relax, spend time with their family and enjoy the beauty we have designed, makes it all worthwhile. A major purpose for our vacation rental properties is for families to feel the love of God, to know we have designed with them in mind and provide a place to refresh their souls during a stay with us.

Let me encourage you to take a moment and talk to God about your purpose. Assess where you are spending your time and whether you should make adjustments. Often, you know when changes need to be made by gauging your joy level. Are you feeling fulfilled? Do you feel closer to the Lord when you work, or more removed from Him? Is the Holy Spirit an integral part of your every day? God wants to be involved in every area of your life. You can be on an adventure with God that will change your life and affect those around you.
